We are talking about a hot air balloon flight over Barolo: an experience to enjoy at least once in a lifetime.

Let the wind carry you above the rolling hills of the Barolo Langhe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2014 and renowned worldwide for its extraordinary landscapes. For approximately one hour, you will soar over vineyards, castles and charming villages, discovering this remarkable region from a unique and unforgettable perspective.

THE FLIGHT

We will take off in the heart of the vineyards that have made the Langhe famous throughout the world, allowing the wind to carry us over a landscape of extraordinary beauty, where neat rows of vines shape gentle hills stretching all the way to the horizon.

For approximately one hour, we will soar above one of Italy’s most prestigious wine-growing regions.

MEETING POINT

At the car park below L’Astemia winery, Via Crosia, 40, 12060 Barolo CN, Italy.

FLIGHT DURATION, ROUTE AND ALTITUDE

Your hot air balloon flight will last approximately 40 to 60 minutes. The route is determined by the direction of the wind, while the pilot can only control the altitude of the balloon.

The balloon may rise to an altitude of approximately 500 metres, but it will also fly at lower levels in some sections, gently skimming above the treetops and vineyards.

WHAT TO WEAR

We recommend comfortable sportswear and tennis shoes or hiking boots. Sandals and high heels are not permitted.

We also recommend bringing a hat and a bottle of water. It does not feel cold inside the hot air balloon, so we suggest dressing in layers appropriate to the season.

AFTER THE FLIGHT

Immediately after landing, we will drive you back to the meeting point in our off-road vehicles.

The entire experience lasts approximately 3–4 hours.

We also offer a guided visit and wine tasting at L’Astemia winery. You can add this experience to your booking during checkout.

From the Langhe seen from above to the Langhe in your glass. Upon request, your experience can continue at the winery with a guided tour and wine tasting.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

The visit begins in the heart of the winery, among the tanks where the wine takes shape, continues down into the barrel cellar, where it rests and evolves, and finally leads back among the rows of vines in Cannubi, with the Langhe unfolding before your eyes.

The tasting includes two wines, selected together with you according to your tastes and the labels available, accompanied by a selection of artisanal cured meats and cheeses.

Vintages may vary depending on availability. A tasting experience of the same high standard will always be guaranteed.

In the event of a delay, we cannot guarantee that the winery visit and tasting will be available.

In compliance with regulations concerning food production areas, pets are welcome only in the wine shop and on the terrace, but not in the winery’s production area.

The tasting is non-refundable.

We want your hot air balloon flight to be a relaxing and exciting experience, above all, a safe one. For this reason, we kindly ask you to read the following information carefully.

Suitable weather conditions are essential for safe operations. For this reason, a flight may occasionally be cancelled even when the hot air balloon is ready for take-off, if weather conditions suddenly deteriorate. We understand that this can be disappointing, but we would always rather postpone your flight than operate in unsafe conditions.

With regard to your physical condition, we regret that, for safety reasons, we cannot take you on a flight if you fall into any of the following categories:

•  pregnant women;
•  people who have suffered injuries or undergone surgery that affects their ability to walk, or people with osteoporosis;
• anyone unable to independently maintain the correct bracing position during landing (bending the knees while firmly holding onto the handles);
• anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol;
• children under 8 years of age.
